A bit about us…
Emmanuel Sovereign Grace Fellowship is an independent Christian church that attempts to bring together Christian fellowship & biblical teaching with the goal of equipping Christians to live their lives to the glory of God in a post-Christian culture.
We want to be a church that is known for its love. Love for one another, love for God, and love for the world. To love one another, we seek to live life together and not just attend church on Sundays. To love God we want to worship Him with sincere hearts and seek to obey him in all of life. To love the world we want to reach out to those in need of Christ both locally and around the world.
What we believe and teach…
We believe in one God existing in three distinct persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is spirit, holy, eternal, infinite, immutable, all-knowing, all-powerful, and omnipresent. God created the universe, earth, and man, and is worshiped rightly only through his Son, Jesus Christ. God is sovereign and free, and has ordained all things that come to pass.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, the Son of God and Son of Man. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect meritorious life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for his people’s sins, and rose again on the third day.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant word of God. The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of the autographs so that they, in their own words, recorded the very words of God. The Bible is the supreme authority for the Christian’s life and doctrine, above any human tradition or institution. The church is to submit to the word of God, and neither add nor take away from its teachings.
We believe in one church of Jesus Christ, believers gathered in congregations across the globe from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. All who believe in Christ and walk in the Spirit are members of Christ’s church. Churches are to be led by elders and deacons, and are to practice baptism and the Lord’s Supper – baptism as a sign of a believer’s union with Christ, and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of Christ’s death until he comes.
We believe that our first parents, Adam and Eve, fell into sin, and that mankind fell in Adam, who represented us under God’s decree. As a result, all people are born with the curse of original sin, and are by nature totally depraved and against God. Salvation can come only through the new birth, which is possible only through God’s sovereign grace. Those whom the Holy Spirit regenerates believe on Christ and are forgiven of their sins through him. Only those whom God has elected in eternity past will believe in Jesus. It is the duty of all Christians to share the gospel with unbelievers, which is God’s appointed means to save those whom he has chosen. Justification is by faith alone, through the imputed righteousness of Christ alone. All who are justified by faith will live lives of holiness by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in a visible, physical return of Jesus Christ at the end of time. We believe in the resurrection from the dead, the eternal blessedness of the saints and the eternal punishment of the wicked, and in the new heavens and new earth, where God’s people will dwell forever in joy and holiness.
We hold to the biblical and historic doctrines of grace, and affirm the commitments contained in the Cambridge Declaration of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.
